President’s Award for Research awarded

UIC recognised the excellent achievements of teachers and acknowledged the commitment of 41 long-serving staff members at a ceremony on 23 February. Prof Baojun Xu (Professor of Food Science and Technology, DST) was given the President’s Award for Research.

Dr. Karen Poon and Dr. Bo Lei included as Zhuhai High-Level Talents

Dr. Karen POON (Associate Professor, Associate Dean of the Division of Science and Technology) and Dr. Bo LEI (Associate Professor, Programme Director of Food Science and Technology) have been nominated in May for High-Level Talents by the Zhuhai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. This is the first time UIC has received the nomination.

Dr. Bruce Xu Honored with the Award for Outstanding Research Talent

Dr. Bruce Xu from Food Science and Technology Program in DST was invited to attend "the 2nd Innovation Development Forum of Chinese Food Industry-University-Research" which was held on November 2-4, 2012 in Beijing. Dr Xu won "Outstanding Research Talent Award". During the meeting, Dr. Xu presented a report entitled "Telomerase Inhibitors Derived from Natural Foods and Their Anticancer Activity", Dr. Xu also attended the 1st editorial board meeting of a new international journal Food Science and Human Wellness, and received letter of appointment as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the first editorial board of Food Science and Human Wellness with a four-year engagement period.

Dr. Baojun Xu Selected as Regional Editor of International Academic Journal

Dr. Baojun (Bruce) Xu, assistant professor of Food Science and Technology at Division of Science and Technology, United International College (UIC), has been selected by the Maxwell Science to be the Regional Editor of Advance Journal of Food Science and Technology (AJFST), starting from December 1, 2010. Previously, he also has been named as an Associate Editor of Journal of Medicinal Plants Research, and an Editorial Advisory Board Member of The Open Nutraceuticals Journal since joined UIC.
