Distinguished scientist of the Indian Statistical Institute Prof Sankar K Pal, J C Bose National Fellow of the Government of India, gave a lecture on “Rough-fuzzy Computing and Granular Mining” at UIC on 16 June. He related the topic to the computational theory of perception, natural computing and handling big data, and explained pattern recognition, soft computing, and their relevance to machine intelligence and data mining.
