I currently work for a third-party consulting company and my work includes providing occupational health-related risk assessment, review, testing, improvement strategies and other services to companies. Occupational health is a branch of public health relevant to many people. It has received increasing attention domestically. It’s increasingly implemented locally though there is still room for improvement. It is challenging to work in a third-party consulting firm but the challenges promote continuous learning and growth. I hope to use what I have learnt to benefit more employees and promote the health of more people.

During my time at UIC, I systematically acquired knowledge in environmental science and mastered essential experimental skills, while also improving my proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In these unforgettable and warm four years, the guidance of my teachers and the care of my classmates taught me how to face life more positively, live joyfully, work effectively in teams, and successfully develop my career. It is also worth mentioning that in Dr. TSIM's lecture, I learned for the first time how to present my research through posters, which laid a solid foundation for my academic presentations at international conferences.

I am deeply grateful for the patient guidance of all my mentors in the Environmental Science program. It was their "beacons" that illuminated and solidified my path for further studies and future employment in the environmental field. During my undergraduate studies, professors and teaching assistants of various courses provided me with immense support. Especially during the year of conducting experiments for my graduation thesis, which helped me understand the importance of integrating theory with practical application. My coursework also revealed the profound impact of climate change on the Earth, ecosystems, and humanity, and underscored the importance of interdisciplinary learning, laying the foundation for my current work in green finance, renewable energy, climate change mitigation, and the "dual carbon" sector. What I wish to share with younger students is that regardless of whether you choose to pursue further studies, always maintain a mindset of curiosity, innovation, and critical thinking. The vast "blue ocean" of the environmental sector is waiting for you!

I am immensely thankful to UIC for providing me with a competitive edge and to the Environmental Science program for equipping me with professional knowledge and the ability to think critically. I am deeply appreciative of all the teachers who have taught me; your dedication has shaped the person I am today. UIC was a place to acquire new knowledge, yet it was not solely about learning. At UIC, we studied, grew, and honed our skills, ultimately stepping into society with confidence.

I am profoundly grateful to all the mentors who have supported me in my academic pursuits. Without their excellent guidance and assistance, completing any research would have been impossible. The post-class tutoring by professors and teaching assistants during my undergraduate studies was particularly beneficial; they patiently addressed my seemingly endless questions. Furthermore, the laboratory experience during my undergraduate years taught me the importance of precision and the value of imagination. I also appreciated the broad and meticulously crafted experiments, ranging from identification keys for flora and fauna to using atomic absorption spectroscopy for soil metal analysis. These experiences, coupled with classroom learning materials, laid the groundwork for seamless advancement towards higher degrees. In pursuing a graduate degree, perseverance and analytical skills are paramount; there are no shortcuts or easy paths. Ultimately, what I wish to share most is that it is through hardship that one is refined and accomplished.
