UIC and Print-Rite establish the 3D Innovation and Development Lab

UIC and Print-Rite Holdings Ltd opened the 3D Innovation and Development Lab at UIC on 8 April to research and develop 3D technology and apply in the fields of education, design, medicine and food. The lab will hold a series of 3D printing workshops and training courses to help students understand more about the technology.

After a long and elaborate preparation, students from the Computer Science and Technology Programme (CST) of the Division of Science and Technology presented their research projects during the first exhibition on the evening of 23 October 2013. Programme Director Dr Weifeng Su explained in his opening speech that the exhibition clearly demonstrates how to gather and analyze information, formulate a strategy, and apply it. By incorporating 'fun and hip' applications it will make the programme more attractive and students will be more motivated. CST should continue to promote this kind of 'fun' culture and continue to merge it into its programme.

UIC students are honoured in the Google’s 2012 Android Student Developer Challenge

The efforts of the UIC instructor Dr. Louis Tang, Assistant Professor of Division of Science and Technology, and his students’ team CameraTricks in demonstrating their unique creativity won them the third prize in the national final onsite competition of the Google’s 2012 Android Student Developer Challenge, presented in the Google Beijing Office on 16 December 2012. Two teams of UIC students, CameraTricks and My clothes: Ryan&Thomas, won the second and third prize in the Southern China contest, and later, the former earned the third prize nationally.

UIC Students Won at the 3rd Android Developer Challenge for Chinese College Students

The 3rd Google Android Developer Challenge for Chinese College Students released its first round result on November 1st, 2012. Two teams from Computer Science and Technology department got a good result in this competition. One team won the second award and the other won the third award in the South China Region which including Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan province.

UIC CST Teams Won at Intel Cup ESDC Debut
