UIC's eight scholars have been ranked the world's top scientists in 11 fields of study by Research.com, an international education portal.
Research.com's best researchers rankings are lists of leading scholars in a wide range of areas, created using an analysis of around 170,000 scholars determined from various bibliometric data sources. Position in the ranking is based on a researcher's D-index (Discipline H-index), which includes exclusively publications and citation values for an examined discipline.
Aong the eight UIC scholars, five are from FST, they are: Director of UIC Institute for Advanced Study, Prof Tang Tao; Vice President (Research and Development) Prof Jia Weijia; Prof Fang Kai-tai of the Department of Statistics and Data Science;Prof Wang Qing-Guo of the Department of Computer Science;and the Head of the Department of Life Sciences Prof Xu Baojun. They are named in the fields including Mathematics, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology and Biochemistry and more.

Prof Tang Tao and Prof Wang Qing-Guo are ranked in the top 700 in the world in their respective fields. Furthermore, Prof Tang Tao, Prof Fang Kai-tai and Prof Wang Qing-Guo are ranked in the national top 60.
FST has an international staff with lecturers and professors from around 13 countries and regions. Faculty members of all the departments have studied or worked abroad, with 95.1% owning doctoral degrees. UIC's scholars have nudged it into the nation's top 100 in the concentration of high-calibre talents, providing students with high-quality academic resources and advanced teaching methods while continuing to make new breakthroughs in the field of research.
