UIC adds Food Science to ESI top 1% field

Clarivate released the statistics of ESI (Essential Science Indicators) from 1 January 2013 to 30 April 2023 on 13 July 2023, and UIC's Food Science and Technology Programme entered the list of the world's top 1% discipline of Agricultural Sciences (including Food Science).

A total of 190 disciplines from 25 universities in Guangdong were included in the global top 1% list this time, and UIC is the only new university.

ESI surveys more than 11,000 journals worldwide to rank authors, institutions, countries, and journals in 22 broad fields based on publication and citation performance. Data covers a rolling 10-year period and includes bimonthly updates to rankings and citation counts.

UIC's Food Science and Technology Programme aims to nurture graduates who are knowledgeable and competent in handling issues of production, marketing and management of food and nutritional science.

It intends to equip students as food scientists, technologists, regulatory specialists and food science professionals employed by government agencies, and local and overseas food companies. Its undergraduates have published more than 80 papers in international journals by far.
