The CUMCM was jointly organised by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM). During the competition, up to three students form a team, developing mathematical models to solve a simplified real-world problem in engineering, management, etc. The team then have to submit the final academic papers within three days. The contest aims to encourage students to acquire more knowledge in math, enhance abilities to establish mathematical models, improve writing skills and problem-solving skills.
