The Second MCP High Table Dinner


The Second MCP High Table Dinner of Division of Science and Technology was successfully held on May 21st, 2010 (6:00p.m.-8:30p.m.) in B102.Totally, about 140 guests have attended this wonderful dinner.

Zhang (Academic Registrar), Dr. Ricky Hou (Associate Dean, Division of Science and Technology), Dr. Vincent Yeung (Associate Dean, Division of Science and Technology), Dr. H.P. Guo (Programme Coordinator, Computer Science and Technology).

At the beginning,the Dean of the Division, Prof. Sze-Yong Zee warmly introduced the distinguished guest speaker, Prof. Kwok-Fai So and gave a short speech on the advantages of having the MCP under the Division.

        Meanwhile, Prof. So gave a valuable lecture -- " Nanomedicine and Brain Repair."

Prof. So is currently Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy, and holds the prestigious Jessie Ho Professorship in Neuroscience at the University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was the first to show lengthy regeneration of retinal ganglion cells in adult mammals with peripheral nerve graft. He is currently using multiple approaches to promote axonal regeneration in the optic nerve and spinal cord. He and his team are now working on some neuroprotective and regenerative factors.

     After the lecture, there was a Questions and Answers Section, some students and teachers expressed their opinions about the Nanotechnology in applied researches of medicine, and they also got some valuable information from Prof. So.

         

The Whole High Table Dinner last about 2 and a half hours. The Dean of the Division, Prof. Zee took this opportunity to thank all the Mentors and Peer Mentors for their valuable time and hard work in making the Mentor Caring Programme a big success. Under the continuing good leadership and guidance of all the Mentors, our Mentees (both past and present) will benefit immensely.
