About Us-Master of Science in Data Science (Concentration in Business Statistics)

This programme is jointly offered by the Department of Mathematics of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and the Faculty of Science and Technology of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC). It is developed based on the Master of Science in Operational Research and Business Statistics (ORBS) established by HKBU in 2007. Upon fulfilling the requirement of this course, students will be awarded the degree of Master of Science in Data Science (Concentration in Business Statistics) by HKBU.

This programme aims to develop international and interdisciplinary professionals equipped with skills in business management and advanced statistical analysis. It emphasizes the enhancement of data-driven strategic insights and decision-making capabilities, along with the cultivation of innovative thinking.

Aligning with advancements and cutting-edge technologies in big data analytics and business management, we offer a systematic and comprehensive curriculum that encompasses crucial topics, including

By capitalizing on the economic strengths of the Greater Bay Area and the resource of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Interdisciplinary and Application for Data Science at UIC, this programme provides diverse project-based learning opportunities. Students are presented with the chance to participate in research projects or internships at our key laboratory or with local enterprises during their studies. Outstanding graduate could also be considered being admitted into our Research Graduate Programme.
