Lecture | Research on AI, Robotization, Big Data and Their Applications

Speaker: Prof. Cai Yiyu

Time: 3:30-5:30 p.m., 18 Mar 2020 (Wed)

Online platform: Tencent Meeting (ID: 868 453 172)

Language: English

Abstract:

Part 1 kicks start with an introduction of the computer-aided engineering (CAE) lab at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Emphasis will be placed on the presentation of fundamental research in Modeling, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence and High-performance Computing. Efforts will be made to discuss applications of fundamental researches in construction, medicine and education. Specifically projects in collaboration with Singapore’s Housing Development Board, Surbana Jurong Group, Singapore General Hospital, etc., will be briefed. Q&A interactive sessions will be arranged at the end of the talk.

Part 2: Intelligent Lift Planning System for Robotic Cranes and BIM – Future of Construction. In complex construction environment, cranes are operated with heavy loads which require proper manipulation of crane units. This generates concern regarding two important factors in industrial work environment - productivity and safety. Path planning for automated lifting using robotized cranes requires rapid and accurate optimal path to be followed for each lifting task specified. This is one of the major reasons for the increased demand of Computer-Aided Lift Planning (CALP) systems among current construction industries.
