My decision to choose data science as my major in UIC originated from a book called "Intelligence Era" that I read in high school. It made me realize how this emerging discipline has changed the traditional pattern in fields of society, thus inspiring my interest in studying this subject. The theoretical study and various project practice in data science have improved me in many aspects. After each project practice, the teacher will let us conduct corresponding oral presentation and organized written reports to exercise our communication skills and critical thinking. Nowadays, I still firmly believed that these personal soft power enhancements will also play an indispensable role in my future development.
I am very grateful to all the teachers I met at UIC for keeping me curious about the subject of data science and encouraging me to move forward in this subject and become a better version of myself. At the same time, I was very lucky to have gained many good friends at UIC. We exchanged our ideas, imagined the future, and made progress together.
The four years of UIC majoring in data science is the most unforgettable and happy experience for me. Data science is like a big family. The music of the library closed late at night, the sound of the keyboard in the computer room, the thinking among students during group discussions, the spark of thinking collision with classmates, and the experience of hanging out for life exploration have become my most precious and beautiful memories.
It is an honor to be a student of DS major. We have witnessed the continuous growth of faculty, and we have also seen more and more new students join the DS family. During the four years at UIC, I feel that every day is fulfilling. Our teachers not only taught professional knowledge, but also taught us how to think and solve problems. In this process, I learned the ability to think independently, which helped me solve problems at work.
After leaving UIC, I found that campus life is so beautiful. Thanks to UIC for providing us with a good learning environment and allowing me to meet many like-minded friends. I will miss four years of college life. Finally, I wish UIC get better and better, and I hope DS will become stronger and stronger, YYDS!
Studying in UIC was one of the most important and critical choices that my father has strongly encouraged me. In the past four years, UIC education has not only focused on the improvement of students' academic knowledge, but also on students' mental health, social skills and international awareness. I believe PGCC, The Way of University, MCP and the Culture of Student Hall are very familiar to us. In terms of study, usually when students in other universities were just about to enter the mid-term period, our students had already started to put on suits and do course presentations. When other students were still in a hard time to prepare for the final exams, we were already on holiday. Definitely, the semester is too short that the study is more intensive for students. However, the long vacation on the other side provides students with more freedom to choose whatever they want to achieve, like summer programme, participating in competitions, internship and so forth.
I majored in Data Science in UIC. Fortunately, as the students of the first generation of this major, we received a lot of attention and care from teachers. I deeply feel that this major is becoming more and more attractive, and the faculty team is growing stronger day by day, where students and teachers are growing together. Therefore, I am so proud of being a student of UIC DS.
As the first graduate in data science, I feel very lucky. UIC has the most professional teachers and the friendliest classmates. I remember that in the beginning, we could meet the same teachers several times every week in major classes. As time went by, the relationship between students and teachers was like friends. Later, when we graduated, DS had grown larger, and I feel very honored to witness the growth of DS. Although I have encountered many challenges in UIC, the teachers will always support me, and the students will always work together with me. I will always remember this memory. In my eyes, UIC is an inclusive and diversified university, which endowing UICer with many good qualities. We are willing to learn from others while keeping our own positions, confident and modest at the same time. During my four years in UIC, it has taught me a lot, including cooperation ability and leadership. Now I have graduated from UIC. And I hope UIC is getting better and better. I also wish the teachers and students good health; younger students have a bright future!
