The Institute of Statistics and Computational Intelligence

The Institute of Statistics and Computational Intelligence (ISCI) in the Faculty of Science and Technology, BNU-HKBU United International College was established at April 1, 2006. As its name indicates, ISCI will conduct high profile researches in the fields of Statistics and Computational Intelligence. Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. It is a scientific discipline in which statisticians assist other scientists and researchers to make informed decisions in the face of uncertainty. Computational Intelligence is a meeting point of Computer Science, Mathematics and Engineering. It is the study of adaptive mechanisms to enable or facilitate intelligent behavior in complex and changing environments. As such, computational intelligence encompasses Bayesian reasoning, statistic learning and data mining, artificial neural networks, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, fuzzy systems, etc. Bringing together diverse expertise and experience from these two fields can enrich each of the participating discipline and foster new research perspectives in both.

◆ The Four Points Innovation Lab

The Four Points Innovation Lab (FPIL) under the Institute of Statistics and Computational Intelligence (ISCI), BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC) was established on September 1, 2007. Our mission is to offer high quality, fast and quantitative data collection and high level data analysis services, as well as consulting, courses and training in statistics.

Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. It is a scientific discipline in which statisticians assist the organizations, companies and researchers to make informed decisions in the face of uncertainty. Our team combines unsurpassed academic credentials with in-depth practical expertise. Our knowledge of advanced methods of statistical analysis combined with specific expertise in applying these tools in a business setting enable us to offer unsurpassed assistance in designing theoretical models and empirical analysis tools that can answer any number of questions about the nature of your business. Whether your challenges involve data or research, FPIL offers you real, complete and individual solutions.Initially, FPIL will focus on the following stat.-related services including Survey Research and Data Analysis, Statistical Consulting and Training, Quality Control and Experimental Design and Data Mining and Modeling.
