UIC launched the new Math Learning Centre (MLC) on 15 December to facilitate math and statistics studies.
Located at T3-101, the MLC is equipped with interactive teaching facilities. Students can come here to discuss math and statistics-related questions without making appointments, and there are teachers and student tutors on duty to help. Moreover, math learning workshops and sharing sessions will be held from time to time.
UIC President Prof Tang Tao, Vice President (Academic) Prof Huang Huaxiong, Dean of Division of Science and Technology Prof Pan Jianxin, Programme Director (PD) of Applied Mathematics Prof Di Yana, PD of Financial Mathematics Dr Jin Peng, PD of Statistics Dr Ye Huajun launched the Centre with paper cuttings in their hands.
President Tang hopes that students can appreciate the beauty of mathematics and use this dedicated location to enhance their learning abilities.
Prof Huang Huaxiong introduced that the Centre was inaugurated after one year of preparation, and he truly hopes that it can benefit the students.
Dr Hui Man Wa, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics and the representative of teachers on duty, said that the Centre would invite teachers and outstanding students to share and set up fun challenges for students.
Wu Fan (2019 cohort of Statistics programme) passed the written test and became a student tutor at the MLC. As a student tutor, he needs to help other students solve some math and statistics questions. Wu Fan said he also looks forward to improving himself with his fellows.
