UIC's Statistics Programme selected as provincial-level top undergraduate major

UIC's Statistics Programme, which is part of the Division of Science and Technology, has been approved as the provincial-level top undergraduate major by the Ministry of Education.
Founded in 2005 by Prof Fang Kaitai, an internationally renowned statistician, the Statistics Programme was one of UIC's first programmes. The application of statistics has been constantly emphasized throughout the course settings and teaching methods, with statistical theories taking another major part. While cultivating students' ability to solve practical mathematical and statistical problems, the programme also pays great attention to students' creative thinking and international outlook.


More than 80% of the Statistics graduates have chosen to pursue further studies in the past two years. More than 70% of them have been admitted to the world top 100 academies in QS, including the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Columbia University, etc.
Relying on UIC's superior resources and based on the Liberal Arts and Whole Person Education model, the Statistics Programme has achieved outstanding teaching results and achievements. In 2015, the programme was rated as an advantageous programme in Zhuhai and received a million yuan research fund. In 2018, Statistics started the enrollment of PhD and MPhil in Probability and Mathematical. Top teaching and research teams from home and abroad have published more than 60 SCI papers in the recent three years.
