Lecture | First Meet With Mathematical Models

Topic: First Meet with Mathematical Models

Speaker: Dr. Fan BAI, Assistant Professor from AM

Time: 10:30-12:00, 28 October 2022 (Fri)

Venue: T3-101 Math Learning Center

Language: Chinese

Abstract of the talk:

Mathematical models have a wide range of applications in many areas of modern society. In the first part of the talk, we take simple biochemical reactions as a starting point for the construction, analysis and numerical simulation of simple stochastic and deterministic models respectively; in the second part, we discuss issues related to data-driven mathematical models and the application of such models in the fields of biology, infectious diseases and public health.

About the speaker:

Dr. BAI is currently an Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematical Science. His main research interests are in mathematical epidemiology. Dr. Bai received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of British Columbia, followed by post-doctoral positions in Texas and Tennessee, USA; he then conducted research in biomathematics and applied stochastic processes at the Department of Mathematics, University of Bonn, Germany and Hausdorff Center for Mathematics.
