Being able to recognize new user requirements could help organizations gain their edges in business competition. Comparing to traditional requirements elicitation approaches, a data-driven approach has its own technical merits, with respects to its quickness and objectiveness. However, making the leap from data to requirements is not easy. In this talk, I will present a series of work, utilizing a data model, called Situation, under the conceptual architecture of DIKW (Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom), to elicit new requirements from user behavioral and contextual data. A case study on an online library system will be presented, followed by a discussion on open questions in the domain of data-driven requirements engineering.

讲者简介:

Dr. Jingwei Yang is an Assistant Professor in Data Science at UIC. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Iowa State University, in 2017. His research emphasizes data-driven concepts and techniques for modeling and analyzing the human perspectives of software system/service, and aims at bridging the gaps between the latest computing technologies and industry-grade applications. His current research interests include 1) Quality assurance of AI-based components, 2) Decision-making based on the DIKW framework.
