报告摘要:

IP securitization involves the issuance of Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) with intellectural property (e.g. patents, trademarks and copyrights) as the underlying collateral. It has attracted increasing attention in recent years from both academics and practitioners since the creation of "Bowie bond" in 1997 by David Pullman that had raised $55 million USD for David Bowie, a well-known pop musician. In China, there is a growing interests in IP-backed ABS, as marked by the issuance of iQiYi ABS in 2018. This talk reviews the current theory and practices of IP-ABS both in the US and China. We further discuss the potential risks and opportunities in this newly emerging ABS market.
