On November 16, 2024, the public servant exams experience sharing session, hosted by the Master of Arts in Communication - Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media (hereinafter referred to as AIDM) programme, was successfully held at UIC.
This sharing session invited two outstanding graduates who had studied at UIC - Li Jie and Guo Zitong, to bring valuable experience to students. At the same time, exceptional doctoral student Lin Tianyu joined in, sharing his PhD application journey and practical skills with everyone.
Whether it's applying for the public servant exams or applying for a PhD, this informative sharing session pointed out the direction for students and provided participants with plenty of motivation and inspiration.
This sharing session was hosted by Dr. Qu Bingqing, the head of the AIDM program.
At the beginning of the event, Dr. Qu briefly explained the purpose and core content of the sharing session. She expressed her hopes that this event will not only stimulate students' enthusiasm for public servant exam preparation but also help everyone better explore their interests and potential.
Li Jie: graduated with an MPhil in Computer Science and Technology, working at Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology (GDIIST).
With her rich academic and professional experience, Li provided students with in-depth guidance for public servant exam preparation. She emphasized that before applying for the exam, one must clearly understand one's career interests, life planning, and job nature. She detailed the question types, preparation resources and techniques for the exam, especially mentioning the need to practice real questions, focus on studying current affairs hotspots, and emphasize the importance of time management and mentality adjustment.
Guo Zitong: AIDM graduate working at Zhuhai High-tech Zone Science and Technology Innovation and Industrial Development Bureau.
Combining his own experience, Guo shared the critical role of graduate studies in broadening career paths from the perspective of employment transition. He detailed the application process, exam nodes, and exam preparation skills. He specifically mentioned that it is necessary to fully utilize various information channels to understand job dynamics and choose an appropriate application direction based on personal strengths. At the same time, he encouraged everyone to interpret the original version of policy documents and announcements, which could lay a solid foundation for exam preparation.
Lin Tianyu: AIDM graduate studying for a PhD at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).
Starting from his personal PhD application experience, Lin suggested trying and exploring more while young. He encouraged students to break out of their inherent thinking, broaden their horizons, and actively understand different career paths. He pointed out that choices such as studying for a PhD, applying for the public servant exam, and starting a business are not mutually exclusive but complementary. Students should combine their interests and abilities, make long-term plans, and bravely face challenges to enhance their competitiveness continuously.
Through this event, students not only deepened their understanding of applying for the public servant exam and applying for a PhD but also realized the possibility of diversified career development. This sharing session has become a guiding beacon on everyone's career path.
