On the afternoon of April 12, 2023, Assistant Professor Qu Bingqing, the programme director of the Master of Arts in Communication-Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media Concentration (AIDM for short), and Professor Yu Hongnian led 28 AIDM students to the headquarters of GREE Electric Appliances for an exchange visit.
Making the World Fall in Love with Made in China
Minister Zhu from the Mold Company warmly received the teachers and students and led them to the Gree exhibition hall. The teachers and students first visited the air conditioning product line. Minister Zhu led the teachers and students to understand how Gree started with imitation in the 1980s, persistently pursued independent innovation, and finally mastered core technologies in areas such as compressors, air delivery technology, and chips.
In addition to common household appliances, the teachers and students then saw Gree's products and core technologies in industrial fields, such as precision molds, robots, high-end equipment, and renewable resources. The rich product line and the highly technological display changed the teachers' and students' understanding of Gree as an "air conditioning giant", and they deeply felt Gree's soul of innovation and the spirit of pursuing core technologies.
Precision Mold Intelligent Production Line
Self-developed molds are one of the underlying technologies of Gree air conditioners. The teachers and students had the chance to visit the precision mold factory. Through Minister Zhu's introduction, the teachers and students were pleasantly surprised to find that they were walking on the inspection route of President Xi Jinping in 2018. Following the footsteps of the President, the teachers and students saw Gree's self-developed automated production line composed of CNC machine tools and robots. The robots scanned the parts and transport them to the five-axis processing platform for processing, with a processing accuracy of ±0.003mm. The entire processing process is orderly and highly efficient.
Experiencing the Future Office Life
Finally, the teachers and students came to Gree's photovoltaic future house. The main body of the future house was built with multiple containers. It uses photovoltaic power generation, and is equipped with an energy supply system with DC power distribution as the primary circuit. The purpose is to create a clean, safe, reliable, intelligent, and efficient living and working environment.
